Children aged under 5 travel free on our services, provided they are accompanied by an adult passenger.

 

In Derbyshire, children aged under 14 can get a 50% discount on standard single and return fares. Children aged 14 or older pay the standard adult fare unless they hold a Derbyshire b line discount card. These same conditions apply on journeys which start or finish in Derbyshire, but involve travel into neighbouring counties such as Cheshire or Greater Manchester.

 

In Greater Manchester, children aged 5 to 15 can get a reduced fare, but you will need a GMPTE Under 16 card to ensure you qualify. For those of you who are aged 14 to 18, a b_line2 card gives you half fare travel on buses and trains in Derbyshire, top discounts at various shops and services and can also be used as your library card. For more information on the b_line scheme, please click here.

 

If you are over 60, you qualify for free bus travel with Bowers at off-peak times from 1st April 2008.  You need to obtain a permit from your local district or borough council to claim the concession on the bus.  Off-peak travel means anytime between 09:30 and 23:00 (11pm) Monday to Friday, or any time at weekends or on public holidays.  Local residents can get additional travel benefits, including free or reduced rate peak time travel.  For full details, select your local council from the list below, and follow the link to their website.
